Apply for a Lincoln-Lane Scholarship
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Lincoln-Lane Foundation welcomes applications from any high school or college student who is a resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia and meets the following guidelines:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident. A copy of Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-151, I-551, or I-551C) is required.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Financial Need
- Applying to, or currently attending, a 4-year college or university in the United States
If you meet these qualifications, we invite you to submit an application.
All applications are due November 15. Applications for 2026-27 scholarships will be available on July 1, 2025.
The following items will be required with your online application:
- Photograph taken within the last twelve months
- Essay as detailed in the application
- Copy of parent(s)’ prior year 1040 federal tax return with any schedules filed and student’s prior year tax return, if applicable.
- The FAFSA Submission Summary with your SAI as soon as it is available. (FAFSA opens for filing on December 1.)
You must also have your teachers and/or guidance counselor submit the following:
- Official transcript of with rank and SAT/ACT scores if applicable
- 2 letters of recommendation from people who know you in an academic setting.

PROCEDURES
Students whose qualifications and needs meet our guidelines may be asked to come to our offices for an interview with members of our Board of Directors. We conduct interviews between January and March. the interview is usually 15 minutes, and parents need not accompany the student.
No appointments will be scheduled until all required documents have been received and reviewed. Appointments will be made via an email. Please put admin@lincolnlane.org and 757-622-2557 in your contacts so you do not miss your opportunity for a scholarship.
Students will be notified of the decision of the Board of Directors by mid-April. The Scholarship award is tentative at that time and may be subject to change depending on other scholarship assistance and the student's need.
